Termite Resistance of Solid Wood Treated with Termicide Silafluofen Using Carbon Dioxide as a Carrier Solvent Against Coptotermes
Species (Coptotermes sp.)

Abstract

The termite resistance of solid wood treated with termicide silafluofen using supercritical carbon dioxide as a carrier solvent was determined based on the termite resistance of three different comercial tropical wood species (Agathis sp., Palaquium sp., and Heritiera sp.). Treatment was conducted at temperature and pressure supercritical carbon dioxide point (35oC and 80 kg/cm3) with two concentrations termicide silafluofen (20% and 40%) each wood species to obtain five replicates. One treatment untreated wood (concentration 0%) were also tested as control. The specimens of untreated and treated wood is tested to termites in laboratory for three weeks using method of force feeding test. Besides that, untreated and treated wood were also tested using grave yard test for seven months. Results showed that the preservative treatments using supercritical carbon dioxide with concentration 20% have increased termicide resistance of treated wood.
